Can you believe 2009 is almost here?!  2008 has flown by and this blog has grown cold!  I seem to forget about updating so I’ve decided to switch gears and try something different in this space.  From here forward,  you’ll find a large variety of products that I love or have just came across online that I’d like to try.  I thought it might be fun to share my findings with everyone who reads. :)  Feel free to suggest products!   There won’t be a specific ‘topic’ I’ll stick to so I hope you enjoy the ‘new’ blog!

Our “Double Dazzling” ring sling collection is up & running now!  I love the appearance of our newest slings and hope the customers will as well.  So far, they have all turned out stunning!

On the topic of ‘new’ things, have you noticed the changes to our website recently?  I decided that Kalea Baby was in need of a facelift so I have been working with Cicily from August Afternoon Designs.  She is an awesome webdesigner and has great customer service!  We are still doing a few tweaks and changes around the site so please excuse the dust until we’re finished.  I can’t wait to see it all completed although it’s looking fabulous already!

Also, our new ring sling babywearing instructions are up now!  Well, not new instructions, but better pictures to help you learn how to wear your baby or toddler.  Hopefully, they will help you to visualize the steps as you practice each ring sling carry.  Feel free to contact me though if you still have questions or concerns!

I am hoping to add some more ring slings to our shop soon although we will be running a tad slower than normal over the next couple of weeks.  I had my computer crash over the weekend which has put me behind.  Plus, one of my seamstresses is on vacation next week so that means less production.  We should be all back up to speed soon though!

Life for Kalea Baby has been busy lately and we’re getting ready for some new changes soon! 

 Coming in September, we will be adding a new line of ring slings to our collection.  They are double layered linen ring slings.  Very comfy and for those who are wearing a toddler, it offers much more support!  Our testing phase is almost complete so watch for the new collection coming soon!

As Fall approaches, Kalea Baby is also working on adding some double layered SILK ring slings to the website.  The new slings will not be your ordinary 2 layered silk sling but they will have some gorgeous unique embroidery on the tail of the sling! 

 Pikkolo (soft structured carrier) and Kozy (mei tai carrier) will soon be making an appearance at Kalea Baby!  My goal is to have them stocked on our website by late September although it might hit October.  I am very excited to have the chance to add them to Kalea Baby and I believe they’ll both be wonderful additions to our current product line.  Our newest collection of Angelpack LX carriers are also due to arrive late September unless we have a delay come up.  I will try to update the product page as I learn more about the expected arrival date.

As you may have noticed, we are slowly adding new ‘dazzling’ slings to the collection and there will be more added soon!  We will also be adding 2 shades of pink to our ‘clear’ collection…perfect for spring & summer! :)  Some random print slings might be added to the radiant collection soon as well…stay tuned for more info!

Curious as to when our new Angelpack LX carriers will be arriving?  I have heard news that our order will hopefully be completed within 2 weeks.  So, including shipping time, I’m estimating approx 2.5-3 weeks before they will be added to the website!

Off-topic from the usual business…

Can you believe it SNOWED in central Texas last week?!  I have lived in Texas my entire life and have never seen it snow in April as far as I can recall!  The weather here can be so unpredictable…just the week before it was nice & warm!  Anyways, I was uploading some product pictures from my camera and saw the pictures I’d taken of the snow & thought I’d share. :)  Enjoy!!!

My Little Sunshine, Autumn, at 17 months:

I just put this post under my ‘about’ section in my blog but I thought it deserved it’s own post as well! :)  I’ve had comments on my business name and some have asked how I came up with it so I thought I’d share the story behind it. :) 

The name Kalea first entered my head when we were planning the arrival of my first daughter in Nov 2005.  After honeymooning in Hawaii with my husband, I fell in love with Hawaii, their culture, and their ‘different’ language.  The Hawaiian names always caught my eye so when I found out we were expecting a baby girl, I immediately started looking at various hawaiian girl names.  I immediately found the name Kalea and loved it!  It means bright which is one of the meanings my name, Crystal, stands for as well. 

Well, as my daughter’s due date came closer, for some reason, the name just didn’t ‘fit’ if that makes any sense! lol  So, we started thinking of names and came up with the name Autumn. My husband, Jeff, and I fell in love with that name and I didn’t feel Kalea sounded well as a middle name with Autumn.  So, in the end, my daughter was given the name Autumn Nicole.

Obviously, I still loved the name Kalea but didn’t know what to use it for!  Well, soon after my daughter was born, my hobby of sewing carriers began.  Then, one day, after looking back and realizing just how much my hobby had grown, I decided it was time I thought of a name for my business.  Kalea Baby was the first thing to pop into my head and it stuck…the rest is history!

Hello & Welcome to our new Kalea Baby site!  Our official ‘re-opening’ date was March 2nd and it has been great!  The sales have been up and I greatly appreciate everyone’s business!  Kalea Baby couldn’t be what it is today without you!

Just finished a kids expo this past weekend and it went awesome!  Was very exciting and a great exposure for Kalea Baby.  If you’re around Waco on April 13th-15th, come find us at the Just Between Friends sale!  We will be vending everyday there and would love to see you! :)  Plus, it’s an awesome sale for new moms (or, ANY mom with young kids for that matter) with tons of new to gently used items to choose from!

Lastly, today I have updated our inventory and have stocked TONS of new ‘Dazzling’ slings and added 2 new beautiful colors to our ‘Clear’ line!  Also, I’ve added a new sling to the ‘Exquisite’ line as well as marked a few items on sale!  Please remember that I cannot take any returns/exchanges on sale or clearance items.  Stay tuned for new Angelpack LX arrivals as well come midApril!
