Why Babywear? Why Should You Babywear? The benefits to both parent & child are outstanding! I've heard some comment that they believe babywearing is just a 'fad' that will fade with time or that a baby carrier is only a fun accessory to add to your wardrobe. Our world is changing and as it is, parents are realizing just how much babywearing can help their child as well as themselves. It's far from a fad or just an accessory! Babywearing IS the new world & it CAN change lives. Benefits of Babywearing for Your Baby: Babies who are worn or carried cry less than babies who are not. Studies prove that on average, babies who are carried cry over 40% less overall (and over 50% less in the evenings!) compared to babies who are not carried/worn. Wearing your child helps them to feel safe and secure resulting in a happy baby! In my opinion, this benefit exceeds the rest as I know that no parent enjoys having a fussy baby! Helps to promote great physical & mental development. Babywearing is especially great for preemies & newborns who are trying to adjust to their new world. Being close to you, hearing your heartbeat, and feeling your movement all helps your child adapt. As your child becomes older, seeing the world from your view but feeling safe in your arms will help them to learn and explore life as you know it. It has been said that carried or worn babies are smarter than those who are not worn. The reason being that it stimulates brain development. Creates a Safe Environment for Your Child. What safer place is there than in the arms of your mother (or father, etc)? Toddlers will love the security while meeting new people, in a crowded place, or just going for a stroll. Helping your child feel safe, secure & loved while learning his/her world is key! Great Bonding Tool. With babywearing, parents and caregivers learn how to communicate well with their child. Having their needs met results in a baby who feels content and well loved. The extra snuggles & gazes you get while babywearing will melt your heart. When my little girl, Autumn, was younger, I can remember many times while out & about in town. I'd glance down and she would be staring up at me content as could be. It's such a great feeling! Benefits for You, the Parent/Caregiver: Convenient & it makes life easier. Can't clean your house due to a toddler clinging to your leg wanting attention or maybe a little newborn fussing? Trips to town hard to accomplish? Have more than one child & only 1 pair of hands? Babywearing is the perfect answer to all of these questions! I never knew just how much easier and simple life could be with babywearing! No, life won't go exactly back to how it was before your child entered the world, but it does help to give your life balance & allow you do do things that you normally wouldn't be able to do with a baby on your hip! Great Exercise! Babywearing is the perfect way to get more exercise while still taking care of your little one! Take a stroll at your local park or mall while your little one explores their surroundings or snuggles in for a cozy nap! Breastfeeding Made Easy! Babywearing helps you to nurse hands free (or with one hand if your newborn is needing help) allowing you to get 2 things done at once! Ring slings are especially great if you like to be covered while breastfeeding due to the tail that can be used to drape over your shoulders to give yourself privacy even when feeding your child in a public setting!
